Le

Mechanics Win Team Award. Issued June 22nd 2006
RML
Win Team Award for Technical Excellence
RML’s
sportscar team were double winners on Sunday June 18th when
they were presented with the award for the team providing
the best technical assistance during the Le Mans 24 Hours
race.
Not
only did the team win the LMP2 class in the twenty-four
hour race, clinching eighth position overall with the MG
Lola EX264, but they also won the admiration of senior members
of the Automobile Club de L’Ouest (A.C.O.), including
race director Daniel Poissenot, and members of the Academy
for the Automobile Trade (ESCRA) who voted for them.
Phil
Barker, Team Manager, was on hand in the pit garage at 3.30pm
on Sunday (above) to receive the award; “I am very
proud to receive this award on behalf of the whole team.
They could not be more deserving. This is a credit to the
entire crew here this week, who have worked extremely hard
to prepare the car for this event, and not forgetting the
team back in the UK.”
This
award has been presented by the ACO, in association with
ESCRA for the past thirty years. The judging committee consists
of senior members of the ACO (including the Pits Manager,
Manager of Technical judging, Chairman of sports judges)
and ESCRA who work alongside a group of engineering students.
The teams are judged throughout the week starting with their
presentation at the official scrutineering in Le Mans centre.
They are also judged on their pit presentation, pit stop
procedure and execution and their practical abilities in
fixing problems as they occur.
