Le Mans Winners 2005 &
2006 & Le Mans Series LMP2 Champions 2007 & 2010
This
website is retained as an historic archive of RML's MG Lola
sports prototype project, as well as other races and events
contested between 2003 and 2008.
With
support from the AD Group of companies, RML introduced their
MG sportscar programme in November 2003. Five full seasons
in the Le Mans Series followed, with Mike Newton and Thomas
Erdos campaigning the cars with great success, including
two class wins in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2005 and 2006.
The
campaign started with the EX257 in 2003, then following
on with an all-new Judd-engined MG Lola EX264 in 2005
- a direct development of the EX257 carried out by RML
in partnership with Lola and MG Cars. The following year,
2006, the EX264 employed an AER turbocharged powerplant
and contested the full Le Mans Series as well as Le
Mans, enabling RML to win the 24 Hours for a remarkable
second successive time. In 2007 Mike Newton and Thomas
Erdos went on to claim the LMP2 title in the Le Mans
Series. The 2008 season saw them campaigning the fully
revised and updated MG Lola EX265, culminating in the
launch of the 265 Coupé in September.
At the end of 2008 the link with MG was finally broken,
and RML AD Group entered a new era from 2009 - see the
new
website. However, the EX265 remained a potent LMP2
contender, even through to 2011.
